Parade of Teams
Join us for the FIRST EVER Mid-Cities DI Parade of Teams!! We want to celebrate ALL teams, from Early Learners to university level teams, including all challenges. (This means you, Extreme!) We look forward to celebrating a wonderful, fun-filled day of problem-solving and showcasing all the hard work and time the teams put into their solutions.
Teams are encouraged to wear fun hats, matching shirts, boas, tutus, lights up items, and make team signs, banners, or flags to carry as they walk around the arena. GET CRAZY AND HAVE FUN!!!
About 6:45, we will start calling for teams and team managers to gather outside specific entries of the coliseum floor. Signs will be posted to help you find your correct spot. DI Alumni will organize the group and get you ready for the parade.
If you have a team that is participating in more than one challenge, the team can choose one of two things: they can just choose one challenge to walk with, or they can hustle back around and make their way to the other point of entry. That will be the team manager’s responsibility to get the team safely to the other location.
Team managers will be given an index card to write the team’s name and district on. The leader of that group will take the cards and will announce the teams as they begin to emerge in the arena.
Seniors will have a final step in the process. After they have finished walking with their team(s), we will ask them to gather at a final entry point so that they can come in as a group. The Seniors will make their way down the middle aisle and receive their tassel, take a bow and head over for the group shot by the photographer.
See the attached map to know where to go when the announcer tells you to move to your area.(Map coming soon.)
Awards
Senior recognition, scholarships, and Magellan Awards will be presented at the beginning.
Medals will be presented for first through sixth place for each challenge room and level.
Throughout the ceremony special awards and raffle and game winners will be announced. Be sure to participate in the raffle, scavenger hunt, and bingo at the tournament for your chance to win!
High IC of all challenges and levels will be held until the end of the ceremony.
