Schedule

The tournament schedule will be posted two weeks prior to the tournament date.

Check-in 20 minutes prior to scheduled Team Presentation time and 15 minutes prior to scheduled Instant Challenge time.

Engineering Teams: will check their box one hour prior to scheduled Team Presentation time. Check the schedule for your time.



Parking

  • No parking in loading zones.
  • Please park in marked parking spaces only.
  • DO NOT park in the Tennis Center parking lot.
  • Royal Way, south of the school, is a one way street.
  • Bus and trailer parking is marked on the parking map.

Friendly Reminders

  • Please be courteous to all of our volunteers!
  • Clean up after yourself
  • No food or drink in the challenge rooms
  • Practice good sportsmanship
  • All team members must wear closed-toe shoes
  • Teams must protect all floors and site surfaces
  • Be on time to all scheduled events
  • Adults, please set a good example for our teams

Restrictions

Mid-Cities DI follows all restrictions listed in the Rules of the Road p. 29-31 at our tournament. These are some of the discretionary items along with some friendly reminders:

  • ABSOLUTELY NO WEAPONS of any kind, including replicas or representation of weapon use
  • No Helium balloons
  • Dry ice allowed with permission
  • No Smoke/fog machines
  • No Silly string
  • Liquids must be in sturdy, well sealed container
  • No lights may be turned off during a presentation
  • No glitter or Confetti–These are banned at the Lone Star Finals
  • No food or drink in the performance areas

Guide to Tournament Paperwork

You will submit your Tournament Date Forms, Expense Report, and other team documents in the Resource Area of www.destinationimagination.org. Follow this link for instructions to access your team documents. You can also find more info in the Rules of the Road pp. 36-38.

Teams Advancing to the Lone Star Finals

All Team Managers are required to attend a mandatory Going to State virtual meeting on Monday, February 11 @ 7:00PM.

All team managers and team members will be require to wear the MCDI regional tournament t-shirt to the LSF award ceremony.

-Challenges with 4 or less teams in a level will advance 1st place teams.

-Challenges with 5 or more teams in a level will advance 1st and 2nd place teams.

-Bonus teams will be announced after February 26. Most districts do not support bonus teams.

Lone Star Finals registration deadline is March 4 and fees are $350.

Lone Star Finals March 28 and 29 @ University of Arlington.

A mandatory Going to State meeting will take place the week following tournament.

How to start a team:

Reach out to your District Coordinator or follow these easy steps if your school does not pay for your team’s participation.

Tournament Registration:

Absolute cut-off for registration with a late fee is December 8. Contact Katie Pierce if you have questions.

Mid-Cities Destination Imagination tournament fee is $100 for regular challenge teams and $125 for Texas Extreme teams.

After you have purchased your team number and passed a background check, you will set your team challenge in the Resource Area/Dashboard after you log in at DestinationImagination.org.

Then you will complete the tournament registration at RegisterYourTeam.

Every team will need an Appraiser that will attend a two hour training during the week of January 18 and attend the Regional Tournament on February 8 from 7:30AM-5:00PM. The Appraiser will not be able to watch your team presentation, so please plan accordingly. You can send a link from your RYT registration page or follow these instructions to register as an appraiser.

Every team will also need a Tournament Volunteer who will work a two hours shift scheduled around your team’s presentation.
